Te Paerangi Kaiako 4 provides information, resources, and activities to support kaiako with:
Te Reo Rangatira me te Pāngarau Wāhanga Ako
- Years 0-6 Te Reo Rangatira wāhanga ako content available here: Te Reo Rangatira wāhanga ako (Years 0-6)
- Years 0-8 Pāngarau wāhanga ako content available here: Pāngarau wāhanga ako (Years 0-8)
Te Reo Rangatira Wāhanga Ako and Pāngarau Wāhanga Ako activities include:
- three A3 posters describing the components of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa redesigned framework and the structure of a wāhanga ako.
- prompt questions to support kaiako wānanga to unpack the components of the wāhanga ako.
Rangaranga Reo-ā-Tā
Rangaranga Reo ā-Tā is the term for a structured approach to pānui and tuhituhi. In this activity you will find an information page about the programme, how to access PLD and frequently asked questions. There is also a reflective practice activity.
Hihira Weteoro (Phonics Check)
A suite of aromatawai tasks has been developed alongside the teaching and learning content of Rangaranga Reo ā Tā for Tau 0-3. These tasks are currently being trialled for psychometric purposes and will be available for kaiako to access and use in Term 1, 2025.

Rangaranga Pāngarau
The Rangaranga Pāngarau programme for Tau 0 – 8 is under development and will be made available to kaiako in Term 1, 2025. As preparation, this activity will support you to access Pāngarau online resources and order hard copy resources from Down the Back of the Chair (DTBOTC).
Aromatawai
The aromatawai activities aim to support kaiako with their aromatawai approaches and practices for use in everyday teaching.

Te Marautanga o Aotearoa the redesigned national curriculum celebrates the unique cultural identity and learning of mokopuna in years 0 to 13 learning through te reo Māori. It incorporates a vision and principles for the revitalisation of te reo Māori underpinned by tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
It provides kaiako with a cohesive curriculum structure. It aims to help leaders and staff develop teaching and learning programmes that deliver learning described in Wāhanga Ako so:
- mokopuna experience consistent quality teaching and learning programmes and learning success, and
- leaders and staff are clear about quality evidence-based teaching and learning and aromatawai approaches, practices and methods that could effectively meet the learning, progress and achievement needs of all mokopuna.
