New He Kōrero Tātai books available
31 March
Three new books are arriving at kura across Aotearoa as part of He Kōrero Tātai.
He Kōrero Tātai supports Te Takanga o Te Wā in Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. The stories and articles in the books are written by Māori authors. They’re designed to engage students and support their reading development and knowledge of Aotearoa histories.
In addition to the printed books, digital copies are available as Google slides with audio, accompanying kaiako support materials (KSM), and additional digital content for one of the stories in each book.
The three new books include:
- He kura nui: This book opens a window to the past to look at how our ancestors cared for the world and our environment and what we can draw on from their knowledge today.
- He tikanga, he taonga ka poipoia: Telling the stories of three different taonga and how they’re still used today, one of the stories highlights the important connection between poi and waiata.
- Kia haumanu, kia ora: The stories in this book focus on those places and ways of being that can be a haven for us, whether that be the forest, the ocean or within our own language.
Class sets have been sent to all kura containing printed books. Further copies can be ordered from Down the Back of the Chair.
The Multi-media books are on Tāhūrangi here: He Kōrero Tātai (Tāhūrangi)
