New Rangaranga Reo ā-Tā and Pāngarau resources for kura and schools
4 February, 2025
Today, the Minister announced the arrival of a range of new and refreshed resources that have been sent to every Years 0–8 kura and school using Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
The packs contain a wide range of materials designed to support the teaching and learning of Rangaranga Reo ā-Tā and Pāngarau, so that students learning through te reo Māori have what they need to effectively develop those foundational skills.
These resources deliver on the Government’s commitment to set ākonga up for success by teaching the basics brilliantly. They’re designed to help you use structured approaches to support your students’ te reo matatini (with a focus on pānui, tuhituhi and kōrero, specifically), and pāngarau learning, giving them the foundational knowledge and skills that will set them up for success in their education.
These resources are the first opportunity that students learning through te reo Māori have the chance to be taught using structured approaches to te reo matatini and pāngarau with tools that were developed specifically for them. Each one is aligned to the newly developed Te Reo Rangatira and Pāngarau wāhanga ako, and will be available digitally on Tāhūrangi from 10 February, so that you can access them whenever you need.
You can learn more about the new resources below, as well as find links to their online versions once they are available from 10 February. Don’t forget to keep an eye out here, and in our curriculum newsletter, for more resources coming this year to help you bring the new Te Reo Rangatira and Pāngarau wāhanga ako to life in your kura.
Brief descriptions of the different resources being sent to kura are available below. Links to the digital versions will also be included when they are available from 10 February.
