Kaitiakitanga i Te Au Warawara
Kaitiakitanga i Te Au Warawara
Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa
He taupānga pukapuka tēnei e tirohia ana te āhua o te Au Warawara i tēnei wā, ā, he rauemi hoki hei hāpai i ngā whakaaro, me ngā mahi a ngā tauira hei kaitiaki i te Au Warawara.
He āheinga tēnei mā Te Rarawa Anga Mua kia whakapuaki i ā rātou ake pūrakau mō ngā ākonga, kaiako, whānau, hapū, iwi, me Aotearoa whānui hoki.
The app describes the history, current state and future of the Au Warawara, and is designed to stimulate the thinking and actions of tauira as kaitiaki of the Au Warawara.
Te Rarawa Anga Mua have been given this opportunity to share their stories with their local ākonga, kaiako whānau and hapū iwi and the rest of New Zealand. The key messages are how the environment sustains us and how we look after it determines how our future generations will be able to experience it, giving them a virtual glimpse of the future.
Interactivity has been used to create an immersive experience with an animated image-rich narrative and includes links to related Virtual Reality experiences.
Learning objectives to be drawn out, as explained in the integrated learning resource, relate strongly to ancestral knowledge and kaitiakitanga.
Notes for kaiako that are accessible inside the app include support on curriculum links, learning activities, a list of further information and resources available, and references.
The app has interactive features designed to improve engagement and understanding:
- Narration in te reo Māori perfectly synchronised with interactive text with Swipe to Read, Tap to Spell and Read aloud functions.
- Further narration in te reo Māori in story style to sit back and listen to.
- Subordinate narration and text in English that can be toggled to access
- A record yourself function enables readers to record their own or whānau narration, and overlay it in the app.
