Activities for Leaders and Teachers
Short, practical activities to help unpack the content of each wāhanga ako.
A guidance document introducing the activities and their purpose. Supporting kaiako to understand the flow, key ideas, and connections before starting the following actitivies.
Ngohe 1: He Poutama Ako
Group activity: Progression Mapping
Helps staff familiarise themselves with progression statements across phases (tūārere) within a chosen wāhanga ako and see how learning develops step-by-step.
Ngohe 2: He Mōhiotanga
Pair activity: Knowledge Mapping
Supports staff to become familiar with the areas of knowledge within each wāhanga ako and make connections between wāhanga ako, whenu, and knowledges.
Ngohe 3: Ngā Toi Mokopuna
Group activity: Toi Mokopuna
Explores the toi mokopuna reflected within the learning areas of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, derived from the Pou Matua. Encourages identification of relationships across learning areas.
Ngohe 4: Auahatia te Whakaako
Pair activity: Learning Task (Micro Teaching)
Supports kaiako to apply their understanding of Toi Mokopuna (desired dispositions), Wāhanga Ako, Whenu, and curriculum knowledges through designing a short, concrete learning task
